Post-operative transsexual woman allegedly turned away from local club

I received the email below from Puteri, a local post-operative transsexual woman who was allegedly turned away from local club Zirca after being called a “ladyboy”, apparently based on her appearance.  I will launch an immediate investigation into the matter.  If any of you knows someone from the management of Zirca, please email me at leona@leonalo.com.  I do not wish to jump to conclusions – the management of Zirca should be given the right to respond.

Puteri’s incident report

hi there

initially i don’t want to write to you but i feel i have to.i hope you will read it..

I’m a post-op transexual myself.i’ve been following your blog all the time and i find it interesting and useful.i’m writing to you because i feel that you need to know.

on wednesday nite,me and my pre op transexual friend was having a good time at double o,it was about time to close so we decided to head down to Zirca.arriving at the entrance, the bouncer and the lady gave me a judgemental look but i ask politely can we enter and straight away he ask for my identity card and he looked at it scrutinising it checking for something amiss on my card feeling not satisfied,in my mind i already know what it is,then he pass it on to her colleague,a lady and she also did the same thing but this time i was a bit shocked, she can ask me is this you! i don’t want to argue.then my pre op friend showed her ic and straight away she refused our entry.she said ’sorry ladyboy not allowed,’to avoid quarrel and other things,i told my friend just forget it and leave but feeling very disappointed at the same time.after the incident,we head down to st james with no problem at all we entered the club.

i’m just feeling not right that’s why i’m writing to you to let you know because this is my first time rejection and i’ve been to all the clubs here in singapore.
I was just curious and wanting to let you know that ZIRCA held gay nite every sunday where i’ve been there before and i paid for the cover charge.why the double standard ?
sorry for the english grammar here and there.
Thank you for your time reading it.

Regards
puteri
