A real woman is…
A real woman is someone who dares to be who she is.
A real woman embraces her inner truth.
A real woman celebrates her femininity and works at becoming a better person.
Monica Roberts reminded me recently that Simone de Beauvoir once said that “One is not born a woman, but becomes one.”
A real woman is all of the above things and definitely not defined by her vagina, ability to give birth, absence of an Adam’s apple, outward appearance, small hands, small feet, etc.
I’ve been receiving distress emails and calls from individuals who feel disgusted and unhappy with themselves. But if you could see yourself as I saw myself years ago when I looked into the mirror – a real woman unhindered by neither time, circumstances nor superficial definitions of womanhood – you will find your way out.
